Memories of the ’72 Flood Exhibit

Tonight there was also a panel discussion titled "Don't Blame The River" which gave information about reducing flood risks and dispelled any flood myths.
"The discussion tonight is about the fact that the river is not what caused the flood," said Bruce Whitmarsh, Director of Chemung Historical Society. "The river is what allowed the flood to go away and to look at not as the river as the enemy, but it's an asset to this community."
"It's difficult to have to in some cases relive," said exhibit attendee Stanley Stefanski. "But it's also a complete education as opposed to partial."
The exhibit runs through September and is open during museum hours Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
