New Businesses In The Ithaca Commons
Ithaca (WENY) -- There were a few ribbon cutting ceremonies this morning to welcome three businesses to the Ithaca Commons. Downtown Ithaca Alliance and Mayor Svante Myrick were at the Commons today to officially welcome The Center Café, The Art & Found and Petrunia.
The Art & Found shop is the grand prize winner of Downtown Ithaca's Race For The Space Competition. The women's fashion boutique offers sustainable and ethically-produced clothing and accessories.
The Center Café is run by an Ithaca native and 25-year restaurant industry veteran, specializing in American cuisine at reasonable prices.
And the vintage clothing store Petrunia has actually been around for a few years, but they're now offering a new fashion line inspired by 1940s and 50s style dresses.
"The eco-fashion scene hasn't really come to Ithaca yet," said Olivia Royale, co-owner of The Art & Found. "But it's a very progressive town, so we're being received very warmly and positively."
"It's a very good opportunity, really nice location and everything," added Terry Little, owner of The Center Café. "It's in the middle of Ithaca, right in the center of the Commons, so you can't beat it."
