ELMIRA (WENY)---An elderly man was hit by a car Tuesday afternoon in Elmira.

Police say a 76 year-old Elmira man was hit by a car while trying to cross West Church Street.

According to police, the accident appears to be the pedestrian's fault, because the driver had a green light. The man was taken to Arnot Odgen Medical Center with an apparent leg injury- no word on his condition this morning.

Police say there is damage to the hood and windshield of the car.
