Yellow Dot Program

Watkins Glen (WENY) -- More than 30 county sheriffs are offering the Yellow Dot Program to help first responders provide life-saving medical attention immediately after a crash or other emergency.

By filling out a medical information card, storing it in your glove compartment and sticking the yellow dot decal in your rear driver's side window, first responders will know to look for your medical information.

The program was started in Connecticut in 2002 and is free.

"The success rate, I don't know, but if we do this state wide and it results in saving one life, the sheriffs feel it's a worthwhile project," said Sheriff Bill Yessman of Schuyler County.
