28 Injured at Fireworks Display

CA Fireworks Malfunction

SIMI VALLEY, CA (WENY)-- One fourth of July on the West Coast turned deadly. Officials say, 28 people are injured after a firework mishap in California.

Police say the fireworks malfunctioned and fired into a crowd during the fourth of July display. It happened just after 9 in Simi Valley, that's just 40 miles Northwest of LA.

Right now, it's not clear how many people were at the show but police say the event usually attracts several thousands of people. More than a dozen people are being treated at area hospitals with minor to moderate injuries.
