Bath VA Urgent Care

BATH - [WENY] The Bath VA Medical Center's emergency department is turning into an urgent care clinic. The transition is set to happen on January 14th 2014, with the goal of improving quality of care for veterans with non life threatening injuries.
Veterans with life threatening conditions would go to their local emergency rooms. The new urgent care clinic will be open everyday, including holidays, from 8AM to 8PM. Area veterans will get more details in the mail.
Michael Swartz, the Director of the Bath VA Medical Center said, "We found that we averaged about 10 patients a day coming to the emergency room, and of those veterans that were using our emergency room, they were mainly coming here for urgent care or walk in service that did not require a full fledged emergency room program."
The Bath VA wants to remind veterans who may have a life threatening emergency to always call 911, or visit their local ER first.
