EPD Welcomes New Officer

ELMIRA (WENY) --  The Elmira Police Department welcomed a new officer into its ranks this afternoon.  Eduardo Oropallo is the newest member of the department.

Oropallo attended Notre Dame and Corning East high schools, and has worked with the New York City and Corning police departments.  Before becoming a police officer, he served in the U.S. Army and worked as a court officer in Steuben County.

The 43-year-old says he's proud to join EPD, and do his part to make city streets safer.

"Its a good group of guys here really close knit and I'm looking forward to getting on the streests with these guys and have a good time fighting crime," said Oropallo. "I feel that with my experience with the city from a bigger city to a smaller town I think this is a good fit for me."
