CORNING (WENY) -- Home for the holidays: This is now a reality for one local family in Steuben County.

Habitat for Humanity of Steuben County hosted a home dedication ceremony for the DeBucci family Friday evening.
"Well, we were actually 3rd on the list and then we got a phone call that we were first on the list so we kind of had to move the ball a little bit quickly, of course it was like, how are we going to do this, but like - okay let's do it!" says Kasandra DiBucci.

Kasandra and her husband DJ have a special connection to their home as they helped work alongside volunteers to get to this point.

"We had about 1600 volunteer hours on this house, alone, and the DeBucci's have to put in 250 hours of sweat equity as well," says Lisa Caracci, Executive Director of Steuben County Habitat for Humanity.

"My wife and I did insulation down in the crawl space and some painting, actually a lot of painting," DJ DiBucci says with a laugh.

Having the chance to move in to their new home nearly a week before Christmas is something all parties say is a gift in-and-of-itself.
"It definitely makes it extra special and this is our second year in a row where we were able to dedicate right before Christmas and it just adds an extra spirit to the entire event, so. And we even made sure to decorate the home with a tree to kind of bring it all together," Caracci says.

"It's just a major blessing, you know? I mean words can't describe it and there's not enough words to be able to say thank you to everybody and it's just a huge blessing that we're very thankful for," Kasandra DiBucci exclaims.

During the dedication ceremony the family was given a Habitat for Humanity bible, American flag, and cleaning products to help get them settled in.

A big congratulations to the entire DiBucci family!
