Local Home Improvement Store Participates In Mannequin Challenge
ELMIRA (WENY)-- A local home improvement store is participating in an internet sensation. Valu Home Center's version of The Mannequin Challenge has garnered more attention than first expected. In just a few short hours, the video had thousands of views.
"What started off small went big. We were challenged by The Office for ten thousand views in a 24 hour period, and in less than three hours we were over ten thousand," says Assistant Store Manager Brett Gardner and Store Manager Andy Hakes.
The challenge originated sometime in October of 2016 by high school students in Florida. The goal is to strike a pose and hold it while the camera records everyone participated in it. Now, it's made it's way across the nation with various versions.
"We saw the mannequin challenge go big and we thought why don't we try this at Value, it will be fun. Two days worth of prep time and we were able to make it as big as it is now which is awesome," the managers explain.
The Value Home Centers crew stayed late after closing to film this video. Two takes and half an hour later, the video was complete. The managers at the store say it's what everybody's talking about
"I don't even know if we can get them to work, all they want to do is talk about the Mannequin Challenge which is fun, but it's awesome. I mean we have customers come in and say hey great job with the video and it puts a smile on their face every time they hear it," says Hakes and Gardner.
