National Drug Facts Week
The initiative wants to set the facts straight about marijuana, alcohol, tobacco, and prescription drug abuse. Some of these drugs could lead to more illicit drugs like cocaine and heroin.
And with teenagers still growing, these commonly abused drugs among teens could wreck their minds and bodies, that's why the message is so important.
Christie Speciale, the Executive Director of Tioga County Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse said, "Teens receive conflicting messages, which may lead them to believe that certain drugs may be not as dangerous as others. Marijuana is a prime example of this, with the different states legalizing it and utilizing it for medical purposes is really sending teens the wrong message."
