Patterson Bridge Re-Opened in Corning
CORNING, NY (WENY) -- At long last, the Patterson Bridge in Corning is back open to drivers.
The $19.4 bridge replacement project is finished, just in time for the Memorial Day holiday weekend. The bridge connects the city of Corning and the Village of Riverside, carrying Route 352 over the Chemung River. Before it was closed down for construction, the bridge saw 17,000 drivers a day. The westbound lanes were closed since last August, and the eastbound lanes shut down in September.
The former bridge was over 50 years old; the new bridge is expected to have a lifespan over 70 years.
