Chemung County (WENY) - More than 280,000 kids are bullied every month in the United States. In Chemung County more than 20 agencies are working together to stop it locally.
20 different children and family service agencies announce the start of the County bullying prevention task force. These agencies used to fight the issue of bullying separately, this task force will consolidate their efforts and find gaps in the system. Headed by the WYCA of Elmira and the county Youth Bureau, every agency is working together for a common goal.
Chemung County Executive Tom Santulli says it needs to be a top priority, “We are going to make this a number one priority to keep our schools safe our streets safe and to help those children who are in need who go to school and who spend their day instead of worrying about their subjects worry about when they walk down the hall.”
