Local Band Goes National

Southern Tier (WENY) -- An unsigned band from Steuben County is about to break nationally. A new NASCAR video game for all the major gaming systems features their song.

"It's just mind boggling that an idea that you had one night all of a sudden just comes true," said Brandon Butler, a friend of the band who helped get them recognized.

Transparent's song "Bridges" is the title track on "NASCAR: The Game Inside Live 2012" for Playstation, Xbox and Wii.

Butler volunteers with Eutechnyx, the company making the game. He sent the song to an executive, and the rest was history.

"I just had the idea pop right into my head thinking, 'Maybe I should get that band into the game.' "

Transparent formed two years ago, performs locally and has an album coming out in October. They can't believe their song is going to be on a video game like their idols in ZZ Top.

"Last year, [in the game] 'NASCAR 2011,' ZZ Top was the feature band. And to think that this year a band from Canisteo New York is the main menu is just amazing," said lead singer Matt Sassano. "I thank god for the opportunity."

As of right now, the band isn't making any money on the deal, but they're very excited about the exposure.

The video game is set to come out November 6th, but you can catch the band in concert this Thursday at The Gate Church, on Breesport Road in Horseheads.
