Fire Damages Ithaca's State Diner
No Injuries Reported
ITHACA, NY (WENY)---One of Ithaca's historic diners is heavily damaged after a fire broke out Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the State Diner on 428 West State Street around 4:30 in the afternoon for reports of smoke and fire coming from the roof. The diner was open for business at the time and customers evacuated safely.
The Ithaca Fire Department says the fire was under control in about 25 minutes and no one was injured. The building sustained smoke and water damage, as well as structural damage and it will likely remain closed for weeks.
The Ithaca State Diner opened back in 1936.
Several fire teams are investigating.
