Trinity to combat heroin
ELMIRA (WENY) --  Trinity of Chemung celebrated its 5th anniversary and debuted new programs and services for community members.
Trinity  is an alcohol and substance abuse center located on Lake street in downtown Elmira.
They work specifically to provide prevention education, treatment and recovery services.
One of Trinity's biggest projects they have been working on is their efforts to combat heroin in the area. Over the past four years there has been an outpouring of heroin arrests.
Drug counselors at Trinity are taking steps to meet the need for services in response the epidemic. Their new Opiate program provides medication therapy and individual and group counseling to those in need.
Trinity of Chemung County offers assessment and referrals, individual and group counseling, family counseling, women's groups, teen groups and Suboxone treatment. Trinity also offers DDP, (Drinking Driving Program), to those that need such services. New classes are offered every 7 weeks and are held every Monday evening on site.
