Stiffer Penalties For Drug Dealers
ALBANY---(WENY) New York lawmakers are making it tougher for drug dealers to sell to kids. A bill backed by senator Jack Martins was passed yesterday making it a felony to sell drugs to anyone under 14 years old. Senator Martins calls it a no non-sense policy which makes sure drug dealers who sell to kids are taken off the streets.
Another bill passed, this one backed by Republican Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos, now makes it a crime to sell drugs within 1,000 feet of treatment centers and methadone clinics.
