HORNELL, N.Y. (WENY) -- A Hornell man is behind bars after police say he tried to hit officers with an axe during an eviction on Monday morning.

According to the Hornell Police Department, 27-year-old Joshua Inserro was arrested after officials tried to evict him from a home on High Street around 10:00 a.m.

Police say, after he attempted to hit the officers with an axe, he then allegedly barricaded himself inside. About an hour later, Inserro was arrested after being tased through an open window.

He was charged with two counts of menacing a police officer, two counts of attempted assault, and one count criminal possession of a weapon. All of which are felonies.

He was sent to the Hornell Police Department lock-up, pending an arraignment.

Police say there were no injuries.
