Group rallies in Albany to oppose Crestwood LPG storage proposal

Posted: Updated:

ALBANY, NY (WENY) - Several people opposed to Crestwood’s LPG storage proposal went to Albany to call on Governor Cuomo to reject the project.

The group included local vineyard owners, elected officials, and Schuyler County residents. They’re asking Cuomo and the DEC to reject Crestwood’s application.

Nearly 500 local property owners sent a letter to Cuomo on Monday condemning the proposal.

Crestwood has applied to store up to 1.5 million barrels of propane in depleted underground salt caverns at its Watkins Glen property.

Opponents worry about the project’s potential environmental risks and impact on the area’s wine and tourism industry.
