SAVONA, N.Y. (WENY) -- A Savona man is behind bars for allegedly breaking into a home and threatening his ex-girlfriend with a knife.
The Steuben County Sheriff's Office says 37-year-old Matthew Smith also prevented the victim from calling 911, early Saturday morning.
Smith is accused of doing this in-front of the victim's daughter. When deputies arrived to the home, the victim climbed out of a window with her daughter to escape Smith.
Smith was arrested, and arraigned in the Village of Bath.
He was charged with burglary, menacing, possession of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child.
He was sent to the Steuben County Jail on $10,000 cash bail.
