Painted Post woman arrested for a hit-and-run DWI crash with a 3-week-old newborn passenger

CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- A Painted Post woman is facing several charges after she allegedly crashed her car in the City of Corning, and left the scene of the accident. Police say she also had a 3-week-old newborn in her car at the time of the crash.

According to the Corning Police Department, Alicia K. Carl was arrested and charged with:

  • Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the First Degree
  • Driving while Intoxicated – Leandra’s Law
  • Leaving the Scene of an Accident
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child
  • Operating with Registration Suspended
  • Moved from Lane Unsafely

Around 11:20 p.m. on November 15th, Carl is accused of hitting two parked cars on Walnut Street. A short time later, police say they found Carl's car. Her car was missing a front tire because of the accident.

After searching for the driver, police say they located Carl, and determined a 3-week-old infant was in the car during the crash.

The infant was given to a family member.

Police say there were no reported injuries.

Carl was arraigned in the City of Corning, and sent ot the Steuben County Jail on $4,000 cash bail ($8,000 property bond).

She is scheduled to re-appear in Corning City Court on November 21st at 8:30 a.m.
