Local shop offers tats for toys

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - A local tattoo parlor flipped the script on Black Friday.

W/S Collective on Elmira's Southside hosted a "Tats for Toys" drive Friday. Anyone who donated a toy got a small tattoo for free.

All of the toys will be donated to a local charity or hospital, which they haven't picked yet.

The owner of the tattoo shop says there was a line out the door when they opened. He says he wanted to do something different for Black Friday.

"It's fun, for me it's fun.I love tattooing, so to sit here and to use the platform I have with this business, it's very demanding, people want tattoos, so to be able to use that, and to give back to the community, or give to the kids, it's awesome, it's a good feeling," says Dean Barlow, owner.

They collected more than 50 toys.

Barlow says he's considering doing the event every year.
