ATHENS, PA (WENY) -- A car crash in Athens, Pennsylvania Tuesday night began as a chase out of the Southern Tier.

Sheshequin Road was shut down at Front Street around 5:30 p.m. as police were investigating the scene.

Little information is available at this time. According to scanner reports, police were in-pursuit of a car coming from the Binghamton area headed west-bound. The car then crossed the border to Pennsylvania. It eventually crashed head-on into a wall.

On scene, police set up a perimeter around a field across from the crash site and appeared to be searching for someone or something. New York State Police and Pennsylvania State Police were on scene.

WENY News has reached out to both agencies, along with the Athens Police Department in an effort to gather more information, however no details are being released at this time.
