Ithaca Police investigating Tuesday evening armed robbery

ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Ithaca Police Department is looking for information regarding an armed bank robbery that happened Tuesday evening.

Police say around 4:40 p.m. on South Meadow Street, a black male went into the Tompkins County Trust Company with a handgun. He demanded money from the teller and ran away after taking an undisclosed amount of cash.

He was last seen running southbound being businesses located on Elmira Road.

He's described as being 5'10" and having a thin build. He was wearing a mask, with a dark blue or black hooded sweatshirt and dark blue jeans.

Police say video evidence revealed that the suspect was seen standing near the bank for several minutes before committing the robbery.
