Man indicted in alleged kidnapping case

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - The man accused of kidnapping a woman in Southport in December has been indicted by a grand jury

28-year-old Cody Lipka is charged with kidnapping, burglary, and strangulation.

As WENY previously reported, Lipka is accused of abducting a 30-year-old woman at knife-point in Ashland. It happened in the early morning hours of December 22nd. Police say he knew the victim and had been hiding in her car, waiting for her to leave for work.

Lipka is accused of physically assaulting the woman at a home in Southport after forcing her to drive there. He then allegedly forced her to drive to Uncle Jack's Convenience Store, where she was later able to escape.

Lipka's being held in the Chemung County Jail without bail.
