ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Multiple animals have been seized from a home in Elmira after an investigation into animal cruelty, including several animals living in unsanitary conditions.
According to the Elmira Animal Control's Facebook page, a search warrant was executed at 585 Lyon Street in Elmira Friday morning around 11:15.
Officers took three adult dogs, one puppy, three cats, six guinea pigs, two rabbits and two chinchillas, along with three dead animals. All of the animals were removed from the home and transported for medical treatment and evaluation.
Officials say the animals will remain under care while being impounded at the Elmira Animal Shelter. Elmira City Animal Control was assisted at the scene by Elmira Police Dept. and Elmira Code Enforcement.
Investigation is continuing, no arrest have been made at this time.
