John W. Jones Museum to Highlight African-American Women in STEM Fields

Elmira, N.Y. (WENY) - The John W. Jones Museum and the YWCA Elmira will be highlighting the achievements of black women in STEM fields.

The event will take place Saturday at 4 pm at the YWCA on Lake Street in Elmira.

They will show the movie "Hidden Figures", the true story of African-American female mathematicians who played an integral role in the early years of the U.S. space program.

The event will also feature a panel discussion with local African-American women who currently work in STEM professions.

The event is open to girls in grades seven and above. Admission and refreshments are free.
