WINTER STORM WATCH Issued by National Weather Service

Posted: Updated:

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Steuben, Chemung, Tioga (NY), Yates, Schuyler, and Tompkins counties from Thursday Night through Friday, expiring Friday night. An area of low pressure is expected to move into the area late Thursday into Friday morning, continuing throughout Friday afternoon. Showers look to start off as rain and than switch over to snow, that may be heavy at times reducing visibility with higher accumulation possible across the area. As of now, the National Weather Service states 5-10" of snow are possible from this event start to finish, with the highest snow totals expected in areas of high terrain/elevation.

Plan on difficult travel conditions during Friday's early morning commute and significant reductions in visibility possible.
