HORNELL, N.Y. (WENY) -- Community leaders, county officials and law enforcement personnel gathered in Hornell earlier tonight to learn how marijuana is affecting the youth. The town hall meeting was hosted at the Hornell High School auditorium.
It featured several drug and alcohol prevention guest speakers, including the director of DePauls national council on alcoholism and drug dependence. The meeting focused on discussing the issue in the community and providing parents and kids with tools and resources to combat substance abuse.
"I think it's important for the parents, community members to become educated about it," said Steuben Prevention Coalition Program Coordinator, Norman McCumiskey. "Learn all they can. If they suspect their kid is using Marijuana, you have to seek out some help."
The meeting was sponsored by the Steuben Prevention Coalition and the Steuben County Task Force on Marijuana Prevention.
