BREAKING: No Criminal Charges Pending for Mother Who Triggered AMBER Alert for Daughter

Posted: Updated:

MONTOUR FALLS, N.Y. (WENY) -- 31-year-old Katrina Harter, the woman who allegedly took her daughter, 15-day-old Gionna Harter, from a Montour Falls home Thursday night is currently not expected to be charged, deputies from Schuyler County Sheriffs have said.

On May 10, an AMBER Alert was triggered after the Schuyler County Sheriff's Office received a report of a child that was removed from a Rock Cabin Road home in Montour Falls.

Katrina, who had two previous children removed from her by court order, was in the process of having the custody of Gionna transferred to another party that she was currently living with.

Katrina took Gionna to the City of Geneva in Ontario County where they were later located safe and sound.

According to deputies, Gionna has been turned over to the third party that was awarded temporary custody on May 9, and there is a pending hearing in Schuyler County Family Court later this month.

Deputies say there are no criminal charges pending against Katrina at this time.
