Hours-Long Standoff in Sayre Ends With Multiple Charges

SAYRE, Pa (WENY) -- A man from Sayre is facing several charges following an hours-long standoff over the weekend.

Jason  Sampson was charged with making terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and simple assault.

Police received reports of an emotionally disturbed person with a gun at a home on Stedman Street.

When they arrived at the scene at around 9:30 p.m., they secured the area and evacuated nearby homes between Stevenson and West Lockhart Streets.

After several hour officials were able to take the 35-year-old into custody.

Sampson was taken to Robert Packer Hospital on a mental health warrant.

During a search, police say they found several long guns, a handgun, and a crossbow.    

Sampson is facing several charges and police say more are pending.
