TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y. (WENY) -- After a rabid fox attack at Ithaca College, Tompkins County Health Officials want to know if you or your pet came into contact with the animal over the weekend.

The health department says the initial attack happened around 1 o'clock Friday afternoon. Authorities searched for the rabid fox after the call went out. Later, on Friday night, they received reports of a fox attacking people and pets in neighborhoods off Coddington Road.

The fox was located early Saturday morning on Kendall Ave, and was euthanized on-scene.

Several people who encountered the fox are undergoing post exposure treatment right now. The health department says, if you think you or your pet came into contact with the fox, or any wild animal in question, you should contact them. Their number is: (607) 274-6688
