Elmira Kiwanis Club Honors Local Athletes and Coaches

Elmira, N.Y. (WENY) - The Elmira Kiwanis Club honored local athletes and coaches on Thursday by handing out multiple awards. The awards were handed out at a luncheon hosted by the Kiwanis Club. 

Thomas A. Edison baseball player Nate Chorney was named the Spring Male Athlete of the year. Bella Reese of Elmira High School and Haley Maggs of Thomas A. Edison shared Spring Female Athlete of the year honors. 

Notre Dame High School's Izzy Milazzo won the Bee Stephens Female Athlete of the Year award. Elmira High School's Dan Fedor was named the Art Hirst Male Athlete of the year, but could not be in attendance. 

Alexis Wood of Elmira High School won the Junker Johnston Softball Award, while Mike Limoncelli took home the Harp O'Donnell Baseball Award.

Thomas. A Edison baseball Coach Mike Bennett was named the Mike George Male Coach of the Year. Thomas A. Edison softball Coach Liz Warren was named the Tom Skidmore Female Coach of the Year in her first season as a Head Coach. 

The awards are given to outstanding male and female students whose athletic achievements, good sportsmanship, and civic involvement set them apart as a leader on and off the playing field.
