Schuyler County Legislators Vote Unanimously Against Romulus Incinerator

Posted: Updated:

ROMULUS, N.Y. (WENY) – More local governments are weighing in on the proposed multi-million dollar trash incinerator project at the former Seneca Army Depot.

Citing environmental concerns, negative effects on agriculture and tourism, and local opposition, legislators in Schuyler County voted unanimously against the project on June 11.

County officials also unanimously resolved to support legislation from Senator Tom O'Mara and others which would help block the facility.

Circular EnerG is the firm behind the proposed project, which calls the haul more than one thousand tons of trash to the site each day.
