Five Officers Sworn In, One Promoted at Steuben County Sheriff's Office

BATH, N.Y. (WENY) – One new deputy and four correction officers were sworn in for service, and one correction officer was promoted to sergeant at the Steuben County Sheriff's Office last Thursday, June 7.

Officer Ryan Thompson, a thirteen year veteran of the Sheriff's Office, was promoted to Correction Sergeant. He will be assigned as a first line supervisor in the Steuben County Jail.

Deputy Sheriff Matthew Wood was sworn in as the new Deputy Sheriff. Deputy Wood began his career with the Livingston County Sheriff's Office and is a four year veteran of the Hornell Police Department, as well as a veteran of the United States Marine Corp.

Correction Officers Aleksandr Brown and Brandi Parsons were sworn in as full time correction officers. CO Brown began his career in court security and later joined the corrections team, and CO Parsons began her career in the Yates County Sheriff's Office before joining Steuben County.

Correction Officers Randi Taylor and Branden Erskine were sworn in as part time correction officers.

All four new correction officers are currently attending the Corrections Basic Course for Peace Officers at the Steuben County Sheriff's Office and will later move on to field training.

Deputy Wood is currently in field training.
