TIOGA COUNTY, N.Y. (WENY) - Tioga County Public Health officials announced that they recently partnered with Serafini Transportation to train 40 bus drivers and bus monitors in proper child safety restraint systems on school buses.
On August 30th, employees at Serafini sat through a training that included, the importance of child passenger safety, how to properly install a car seat on the bus, and how to correctly restrain a child in a 5-point harness. Employees then went out and performed installations on a school bus and in a van to ensure that everyone could properly install a car seat and safely transport pre-school children.
Serafini provides transportation for several agencies in the Southern Tier. They specialize in pre-school aged children and children with disabilities. Tioga County Public Health relies on Serafini to safely transport children that are in pre-school special education programs.
