17-year-old arrested after allegedly stealing truck in West Elmira

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) – A 17-year-old from Elmira was arrested after allegedly stealing a pickup truck in the City.
According to the West Elmira Police Department, the pickup truck was stolen from Post Street. The plates were reportedly switched with license plates stolen from another vehicle that had been parked on Post Street.

Additionally, police say a 15-year-old is wanted for allegedly being with the 17-year-old in order to steal from unlocked vehicles in the neighborhood. The 15-year-old was last seen in the location around 4:00 a.m.

The 17-year-old has been charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property – Motor Vehicle, driving without a license, operating a vehicle with switched license plates and operating a vehicle with an expired inspection.

The West Elmira Police Department urges residents to remove any valuables from their parked vehicles and also to lock your vehicles when they are parked.
