Authorities identify driver in fatal Candor crash

CANDOR (WBNG) -- Authorities say a man from Candor died in a one-car crash Monday afternoon.

The Tioga County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened just before 2:30 p.m. on State Route 96 in Candor.

Investigators say a vehicle, driven by 58-year-old Kevin Robinson, was heading north when it went off the left side of the road, striking several objects including a utility pole.

Robinson was found deceased, according to the sheriff's office. Officials say Robinson was the only person inside the vehicle. What caused Robinson to go off the road is under investigation.

Route 96 between Glen Mary Drive and Dominick Road was closed while emergency crews cleared the scene NYSEG worked on the downed wires and pole.

The sheriff's office was assisted by Candor Fire Department, Candor EMS, Owego Fire Department, Campville Fire Department, the New York State Department of Transportation and NYSEG.
