BIG FLATS, N.Y. (WENY) -- Soups on! Or at least it was to help raise money for a medical missions trip to Honduras, through the Higher Hope Church in Big Flats. The bags of homemade soup were flying off the table, with each purchase allowing for the mission team to buy more medicine and supplies for those they will be visiting in Central America.

While the sale was going on I was also able to catch up with Bob Armstrong, the physician heading the medical mission efforts, to speak with him about the importance of fundraisers like this one. He told me, "We ask each person on the team to donate some money towards the supplies, but they are already purchasing their own tickets and taking time off of work. So, for this to offset any costs is enormous."

Heading into February, the church will also be hosting their annual chocolate Easter Egg sale, which will aid in the cost of supplies for the building team that will be a part of the mission trip as well.
