BIG FLATS, N.Y. (WENY) -- New York State Police have released more information about the detail Chemung County Sheriff's Investigator Michael Theetge was attached to in Big Flats the night he was critically injured trying to stop an alleged shoplifter.

As WENY News previously reported, State Police say they and other law enforcement agencies, including the Chemung County Sheriff's Office, were performing a targeted retail theft enforcement in the area last month.

State Police say Dominick Haley stole $300 worth of goods from Target the night Theetge was injured. The suspect is connected to Fatiuna Massaline, the getaway driver who hit Theetge, sending him to the hospital.

Theetge was recently taken to a Rochester-area Rehabilitation Center last week to continue his recovery.

In the week leading up to the incident at the Big Flats Target, State Police say they busted three other crimes during this enforcement period.

Police say four people, Kyrston Shutt, Aubri Benting, Amanda M. Card and a 13-year-old were arrested for allegedly stealing $1,800 worth of items from Kohls on March 22. They were all issued appearance tickets for Grand Larceny, a felony.

That same day, another woman, Ashley Lewis, was also arrested for allegedly stealing $300 worth of goods from Kohls. She was issued an appearance ticket for Petit Larceny, a misdemeanor.
