CHEMUNG COUNTY, NY (WENY) -- The Chemung County Health Department has partnered with the SPCA to offer free rabies vaccination to residents and their pets.

Vaccinations will be administered Saturday, May 4th, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.n. at the Chemung County Fairground.

Cats, dogs, and domestic ferrets must be three months or older and must arrive on a leash or carrier with an adult.

Owners should bring proof of a preview rabies vaccination to receive a three-year certificate for their pets.

Rabies vaccinations are required for all dogs, cats, and ferrets by the time they reach 4-months of age or owners can run the risk of being up to $200 if their pet is not up to speed on the vaccination.

Pre-registration is required to schedule an appointment and can be found by going to the Chemung County’s website or visiting the Health Department’s Facebook page.
