BATH, NY (WENY) -- Bath Village Police arrested a 50-year-old Indiana man, accused of trying to lure a teenage girl into a vehicle against her will.

On Sunday, April 21st at approximately 5PM, the Bath Police Department was dispatched to the area of the Super 8 Hotel on West Morris Street. According to police, an adult male had attempted to lure a 14-year-old female into his vehicle.

When officers arrived, they identified the suspect as Joshua Beem, 50, of New Castle, Indiana. Beem was taken into custody and charged with second degree Attempted Kidnapping, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Beem is now in the Steuben County jail, following his arraignment. 

The Bath Village Police Department is urging parents to educate their children on the dangers of interactions with strangers, and remind them to be aware of their surroundings.
