CHEMUNG, N.Y. (WENY) -- Twenty fire departments responded to a call for a house and brush fire on Neason Rd. in Chemung, New York Thursday. The initial call came out for emergency services around 5:30 p.m.

WENY's videographer was blocked from getting near the scene, but observed smoke rising in the sky as crews battled the blaze. Several fire companies were seen arriving with brush fire equipment, tankers and ATVs, including from neighboring Bradford County.

The Chemung Fire Department says what started as a house fire, quickly turned into a brush fire due to dry conditions.
