ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Overnight, there was an accident that took place on Hendy Creek Road in West Elmira.

Emergency crews arrived to the scene of the crash around 12:40 a.m.

According to witnesses who live in the area, they woke up to the sound of the crash, and ran out to assist the driver.

The woman, who has not been identified, was driving behind the wheel and says she saw a deer.

That's when she lost control of the vehicle, swerved onto a parked car on the street, and drove into the front lawn of the next-door house.

According to one of the homeowners, the car stopped just before hitting their gas line.

The driver sustained minor injuries.

A WENY News reporter on the scene says an electric power line was also hit and is tilting at this moment.

Neighbors say their power flickered for about 10 seconds.

Fire fighters  are waiting for NYSEG to arrive for repairs -- adding this would be an all-night affair.
