ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- May the Fourth be with you was the spirit at the Clemens Center Saturday night for the annual gala.

The Clemens Center was packed with people dressed to the nines for the annual fundraiser. The theme "Be, Live, and Play Well Gala' was Star Wars themed falling in line with the May 4th date.

"It goes towards helping all of our programming, all of our general operations. Single ticket sales don't go as far as you would think, so we always have to have extra assistance from the community," says Karen Cromer, Executive Director of the Clemens Center. "We have a lot of businesses, like the Dunn Group tonight, who is our presenting sponsor that have stepped up and said we will help out. We think this is a very worthy cause. You are part of the fabric of the community and it provides quality of life here so people can get away from the really tough times that we're facing and have some relaxation, some enjoyment, and we play a big part in all of that."

At the fundraiser, there were silent auctions, an ice cream social, legos, and giant games. All of the proceeds from the annual gala support all things Clemens Center.

The fundraising goal was $70,000.  To put the cherry on top of the event, the Clemens Center excitedly shared that next week they will announce the 2024-2025 Broadway series.
