New Visions Honors Academy Students Bring Former FDIC Chairwoman to Area
Sheila Bair, a former chairwoman of the FDIC, is coming to the Southern Tier to speak with elementary school students about financial literacy, sharing her stories from "Money Tails" - teaching money lessons to children.
E.J. Brewer Detachment of the Marine Corps League to Host Marine Corps Birthday Ball
A Marine Corps Birthday Ball will be held at the Big Flats American Legion on November 4th, beginning at 5PM. The event features a cocktail hour, buffet dinner, Marine Corps. ceremonies, live music and guest speaker. All veterans are welcome to attend.

The Southern Tier Chapter of the American Red Cross Service to Armed Forces Committee will host a Military and Veterans BBQ on Saturday, August 12th, starting at 11AM. Vets and military can enjoy a free meal, and learn about programs and resources.

Catholic Charities to Host Domestic Violence Awareness Night at 7/14 Elmira Pioneers Game
Catholic Charities of Chemung and Schuyler Counties is helping to raise awareness of the issue of domestic violence, by hosting a community fundraiser at Friday's Elmira Pioneers game on July 14th.
The first annual Cinco De Mayo event will feature live music, food trucks, drink specials, vendors and more on West Water Street in Elmira from 5 - 9PM on Friday, May 5th, 2023.

SoFLX Pride, a non-profit organization dedicated to the support the LGBTQ+ community, is preparing to host its 2023 Pride Festival on June 9th and 10th in Corning, NY.
The 'Taste of Downtown' fundraiser supports the Elmira Street Painting Festival. The event is March 30th, from 5 - 7:30PM at the Chemung Valley History Museum. Tickets are $30.
Supporters of the organization will shave their heads in the culmination of a fundraiser to support the St. Baldrick's Foundation, which raises money for research for childhood cancers.
