CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- On a cold foggy morning in Steuben, runners were going the distance in the thirty-sixth annual Wineglass Marathon.

Runners could participate in either the full twenty-six-point two mile marathon, or run the thirteen-point-one half marathon.

This year's race was one for the history books as the men's marathon winner broke a course record.

"It's a twenty-year record for a reason," said Wineglass Marathon men's winner, Tim Chichester. "This is a fast course, but running alone is very hard. I wanted to break the record. I was going for it from the gun."

While the women's marathon winner got her first big win.

"I knew there was a shot if I ran a good race," said Wineglass Marathon women's winner, Marina Orrson. "But I wasn't really sure coming in who was going to be here. I won the half two years ago, so I'm like, 'Oh, that'd be nice to win the half and then come back and win the marathon.'"

Over the course of wineglass weekend, about seven thousand runners competed in three different races.

But for one runner, the race was a major milestone as she ran her one-hundredth marathon.

"It's pretty surreal," said Wineglass Marathon runner, Karen Murray. "I have on this bib that says, 'It seemed like a good idea ninety-nine marathons ago.' After I finished my first marathon I said, 'I'm never running another one again. So never say never."

As for the rest of the runners, it was all about setting a personal record and making it to the end.
