A WIND CHILL WATCH has been issued by the National Weather Service for Chemung, Schuyler, Tioga NY, Tompkins, Yates, Steuben, Bradford, Tioga PA, and Potter counties from Thursday Night until Saturday afternoon/evening! This has been put into effect due to dangerous wind chill values expected after an arctic front moves through late day Thursday. With highs temperatures only expected to max out into the middle single digits Friday and Saturday, and gusty wind speeds in excess of 30 mph at times wind chill values can be anywhere from 20 to 30+ degrees below zero day to night throughout the Watch Period. Frostbite could occur in as little as 10 minutes to areas of exposed skin.

If heading outside limit your time outdoors and be sure to wear all necessary clothing for the chill. Hats, gloves, scarfs and heavy coats all required for long outside exposure. 

For Chemung, Tioga NY, Tompkins, Yates, Schuyler, Steuben, and Bradford Counties, Watch goes into effect Thursday evening until 6PM Saturday Night. 

For Tioga PA and Potter Counties, Watch goes into effect Thursday evening until 1PM Saturday afternoon.
