BATH, N.Y. (WENY) -- The former Navy recruiter who plotted to kill his wife back in 2016, was sentenced in Steuben County Court on Tuesday.

According to the DA's office, 30-year-old Brandon T. McPherson of Horseheads, was sentenced to a a minimum of 5-years, or a maximum of 15-years behind bars. He pleaded guilty to Conspiracy, back in January.

The Steuben County District Attorney's Office says McPherson was a recruiter for the Navy at the Arnot Mall in Horseheads at the time of the plot. McPherson made the request to kill his wife to a potential female Navy recruit. The second person told police of the plot. McPherson was arrested after an investigation by New York State Police.

McPherson was originally arrested back in December of 2016.

As WENY reported in the past, during a court proceeding, it was revealed that the plot was transmitted via Snapchat, a mobile social media platform.
