Nick's Pub & Grille Looks to Bring Back Hanover Square Staple
HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- It's barely been a month since that new sign went up in Hanover Square. But so far, the community has welcomed Nick's Pub & Grille with open arms.
"We were both born and raised in Horseheads, so [we] couldn't ask for a better location," says Marc Nickerson, who owns Nick's with his brother, Mike.
The restaurant officially opened its doors back in May in place of Hanover's Grill, which closed earlier this year.
But the spot holds some ties to the Nickerson brothers.
"Back in the day, the [owner] was our godfather," says Nickerson. "We wanted to bring it back, bring that nostalgia and honor them. Plus it goes with our last name, Nickerson, so it sort of all came together."
With their Godparents' permission, Nickerson says he and his brother are honored to bring back what was once a staple in the Village.
But this isn't the first success for the pair. They also own Legends Bar & Grille in Elmira Heights and Champions Sports Grille in Elmira.
Both spots have helped inspire what's now being served up at Nick's.
"Boneless wings are what we're known for. We started that as legends and its continued," says Nickerson. "We've added a lot of new items--beef on weck, pig wings. We've got great wings, great burgers, lots of dinners, lots of salads."
But food aside, the pair are focused on serving the community. They say they also hope to have just as many successful years as the original Nick's.
"It's been amazing," says Nickerson. "Business has been great, all positive, so far so good."
Nick's is located at 102 North Main Street in Horseheads. You can check out the menu online here.
