CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- Tuesday afternoon, Guthrie announced the addition of two new medical office buildings in Big Flats and Corning. The sixty-thousand square foot Guthrie East Corning Medical Office is being built right next to the existing Corning hospital. According to Guthrie officials, the new building will provide residents with state-of-the-art care.

"Although the patients will still see a beautiful, traditional exam room, behind the scenes there's space for their team members to collaborate with one another but also be close to them," said Guthrie Corning Chief Medical Officer, Karin DiBari. "The space is also really flexible, so that we can grow and expand to meet the needs of the community."

There, people will be able to receive services for OB/GYN, cardiology, general surgery orthopedics, GI and Urology services.

"As an OB/GYN myself who works in this hospital, I'm really excited to be working in this building and to be able to share that passion when we're looking to expand and grow," said DiBari. "I think it's really going to bring more and more high quality professionals to the area. So that we can continue and expand the services we provide."

The forty-five thousand square foot Big Flats facility will be housed in the former Chase Pitkin building. The facility will provide a wide range of services, including general surgery, plastic surgery, and endocrinology.

"The services that exist currently in that area are going to be expanded," said DiBari. "So we anticipate better access for the patients. But the one new feature that we're adding there is a rehabilitation space for physical therapy and occupational therapy so patients don't have to travel too far."

Both facilities are expected to open in the summer of 2019.
